Take Your Office Look from Day to Night

It’s finally 5 PM, and for once, instead of heading home to take care of the kids, cook dinner, run errands, or just chill on the couch- you have plans to go out. Whether it’s with your best friends or someone special, you need a quick and effortless way to take your work look from ‘blah’ to something a little more interesting.

If you’re like me, you don’t want to have to pack an entirely different outfit that requires a change in the office bathroom followed by that awkward walk through the office that leaves everyone staring at you wondering, “Where is she going?” I want something quick and easy that I can slip on once I get into the safe zone of my car, leaving my coworkers none the wiser. If you aren’t like me- you go ahead & strut your stuff right through that office!

Here are 5 quick tips on small changes to take your look from the office to a night out:

  1. Add a heel: Bright colors, leopard print, or glitzy- the options are endless! Even if it’s just a sleek black pump, they’ll instantly upgrade the look of the pantsuit you wore to work.

  2. Swap your cardigan or blazer for something more bold: The standard black or navy blazer is great for the office, but for a night out you want to spice it up. A bold colored blazer can take your neutral workwear ensemble from Plain Jane to Sassy Sally. Add some edge to your look by throwing on the always fashionable leather jacket, or ditch the cover completely & show off those arms!

  3. Carry an attention-grabbing bag: Bold clutches or chic cross-bodies are like pieces of jewelry and a stylish purse in one. Pick one with chain-link strap, sparkly embellishments, or eye-catching print to add instant drama to your look.

  4. Add statement jewelry: Layering on some flashy bracelets, rings, or a necklace can instantly vamp up your look for a night out. Just make sure you don’t go overboard and end up looking gaudy!

  5. Revamp your makeup: Simply adding a bold lop color or darkening up your eyeshadow will quickly take your neutral day look to a more sultry look fit for the evening. Again, be careful not to go too heavy! You want to look sexy, not like you’re going to a costume party! (Unless, of course, you are!)
