Valentine's Day Style

Valentine’s Day is this week, and when it comes to the perfect holiday look, there’s no right or wrong way to do it. Different agendas call for different outfits, and if you're in need of a casual daytime look or a chic date night ensemble (with your beau OR your friends)- I’ve got you covered!

Keep scrolling for looks that will guarantee you have a fashionable holiday not matter what your plans are. Plus, don’t forget to shop for last minute gifts for your man and/or your girlfriends here!

It might take a bit more effort, but planning a date night is so worth it. Whether it’s a romantic dinner with your love or a girls night out, use Valentine's Day as an excuse to put on something a little more fancy than your usual day-to-day look.

Happy Hour: Meeting friends or your significant other at your favorite cocktail bar after work? Jazz up your usual denim with a flirty top in bright red or pink , then add studded heels & a sparkly clutch for a look that screams Happy Valentine’s Day.

LRD: Who doesn’t love a a Little Red Dress? This one from By Egreis is anything but basic, and the bright color can carry over into spring & summer. For Valentine’s Day, pair with a leather jacket & black pumps for a red-hot night out look. If you like this dress, get on it fast- they don’t restock once it’s sold out!

Movie Night: If your headed out to a casual dinner and a movie, a sweater dress is the perfect go-to. Go over-sized & comfy, or try a form fitting one in a dark red for a more flirtatious look.

All Black Everything: If you’re not a big fan of the holiday but still decide to go out with your friends, it doesn't get any more chic than an all-black look. Instead of wearing red or pink like everyone else, wear a black blouse with a black skirt and cute pair of black pumps. For a slight nod to the holiday without being obnoxious, put on a classic red lip as you head out the door.

Casual Day-Date: If it's as cold where you are as it is in the Midwest right now, I highly recommend a fitted turtleneck with some high-waist denim. It's warm yet chic, and can be dressed up or down depending on where you’re going. Keep it low-key by pairing it with some flat ankle-boots, or dress it up by adding heels and statement jewelry.

“Date Night” (romantic or not) doesn’t have to include leaving the house. Whether you & your love interest are just getting to know each other or have been together awhile, or you’re having a night in with your girls, doing something at home can be equally as fun as going out!

Take-out for Two: If your holiday plans involve a night in of take-out with your beau, pair comfy girlfriend jeans with a cozy sweater that gives a nod to the holiday while still remaining super comfy & low-key.

Bestie Movie Night: Just because you’re having a night in with your girls doesn’t mean you have to wear frumpy sweats (I mean you can if you want, though!). Keep it fashionable by wearing a pair of leather-look leggings topped with a flannel button-up shirt, that way if you decide last minute to hit the local bar for drinks, you’re ready!

Leggings & Chill: When I’m at home, you can bet that I’m in a pair of leggings. If your crush is coming over to hang out, bring it up to ‘date night’ level by pairing cut-out leggings with a knotted sweatshirt for a cute yet still casual & comfy look.

Whether you think Valentine’s Day is a made-up “Hallmark Holiday” or a real holiday to celebrate how much you love those closest to you, use it as an excuse to make some plans! If you decide to stay in or go out and hit the town, I hope the looks above inspired you to look chic while doing it!
